There are two shipyards in Penang. While the Butterworth shipyard is located at Chain Ferry Road, the other one is at Pulau Jerejak.
The Butterworth shipyard belongs to HLLS Shipyard Sdn. Bhd. Its job description include repairing of naval and commercial vessels, overhauls of diesel engines and gearboxes. Newbuilding of marine patrol craft and commercial vessels up to 70m long.
